Series in which art historian Professor Richard Clay explores visions of 'utopia' and examines what they reveal about our deepest hopes, dreams and fears.

Richard Clay explores utopian visions for a better world - from radical politics to online communities - and asks if they can inspire real change.

Can utopian visions for living ever reconcile the tension between the group and the individual, the rules and the desire to break free?

Richard Clay asks if utopia is, ultimately, a state of mind. Can we all find our utopia in a perfect moment of transcendence, artistic expression or hedonism?
